FAQs
Caregivers in Austria have a specific tax status.
Slovak caregivers who operate as sole traders in Austria (so-called Gewerbe „Personenbetreuung“) are not employees, but self-employed individuals – Einzelunternehmerinnen.
They hold an Austrian trade license and pay contributions to SVA (Sozialversicherung der Selbständigen / SVS). They are obliged to file an Austrian income tax return (Einkommensteuererklärung) if their net profit exceeds €11,693 (limit for 2025) or if they wish to reclaim tax from advance payments or bonuses (e.g., Negativsteuer).
At Only Tax, we strive to simplify the process of your tax return and related matters as much as possible.
One of our advantages is that you hardly need to prepare any documents. You do not need to provide us with your payslips. To file a tax return through us, you mainly need to fill out our contact form online, which you can find on our website or we will gladly send it to you.
If you are a tax resident of Slovakia, we will also require you to have filed a Slovak tax return and have the E9 form confirmed by the tax office for the given year. Haven’t you filed a Slovak tax return? Don’t you have the time or inclination to handle the E9 form request? No problem, we can take care of it for you. Just contact us.
As a sole trader, e.g., a caregiver, you can file your tax return electronically via Finanzonline always by June 30 of the following year, or if the tax return is filed in paper form, then by April 30.
We naturally answer your simple inquiries free of charge. Through years of working with people, we have understood that clients are diverse, which is why we have decided to adapt our services to meet everyone’s needs. On our website, you will find up to 4 different packages in our price list, from which you can choose. These include the basic, complete, VIP, and special packages. Each package includes a description of the services covered by its price. Clients have the option to change their package until the tax return is submitted.
For our loyal clients, this year we offer a 10% discount until June 30, 2026.
We have been operating in the field of Austrian tax returns and family allowances for almost 10 years.
We have extensive experience in communicating with the Austrian tax office, the so-called Finanzamt. If needed, an Austrian Steuerberater (tax advisor) communicates with the Finanzamt on your behalf, which is a significant advantage.
The area of taxes is very sensitive, as it involves working with your hard-earned money. It is therefore important to entrust this service to someone who is a professional in the field and whom you can truly trust. We collaborate with official tax advisors, both on the Slovak and Austrian sides.
Not everyone is a technical person. With us, you do not necessarily need to have an ID Austria set up and so-called two-factor authentication, which will save you a lot of time and worries.
If you entrust your taxes to us, in your tax return, you can claim the costs for services rendered by us as so-called Steuerberatungskosten.
